Financial and Risk Policy

Financial and risk policy issues arise across all banking and finance activities. They include capital, liquidity, operational resilience, recovery and resolution, strategic reporting and tax, among others.

Financial and risk policy issues arise across all banking and finance activities. They include capital, liquidity, operational resilience, recovery and resolution, strategic reporting and tax, among others. At UK Finance we liaise with policymakers and regulators, both domestically and internationally, to achieve balanced, practical outcomes.

This involves regular dialogue and correspondence with UK authorities such as the Bank of England and the Prudential Regulation Authority, and multilateral organisations such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the European Banking Authority, on initiatives as varied as stress testing, governance, regulatory reporting and, more latterly, climate-related financial risks.

We also engage with the Financial Reporting Council, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and others on strategic reporting, corporate governance and progressive employment policies. We work closely with UK and foreign tax authorities.

We advocate the implementation of international standards, such as the Basel III framework, in a consistent and harmonised way across the globe and we are supportive of the FSB-sponsored Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.
